Blurred and amorphous, the images in Jim Campbell’s work are purposefully low resolution. “It eliminates all of the details in the image, and it forces you to focus on the movement and the shapes and the forms,” he explains. In lieu of individual traits, the subjects in Street Scene (taken from a recording on Fifth Avenue in New York) become stand-ins for the viewer’s own experience.
